How to get to Selce in Croatia
By car
Selce is easily accessible by car with highways and major roads almost all the way to the front door. Selce is placed in the north of Croatia and is only approximately 1,600 km from Copenhagen; 1,100 km from Berlin; 550 km from Munich; 1,350 km from Paris; 1,380 km from Amsterdam; 1,300 km from Brussels; 750 km from Rom. From Northern Europe the most direct route is via Hamburg; Munich; Salzburg; Villach, Lubjana, and Riejka to Selce. However, it is also possible to detour through Italy via Udinese. The trip is longer, however, the time on the road is approximately the same due to better roads. (Plan the route on http://www.viamichelin.com/).
By car train
From Northern Europe a good alternative is to take a car train. Car trains leave from e.i Berlin and Hamburg. These car trains go to Villach in Austria or all the way to Riejka in Croatia (depending on the season). From Riejka it is only a further 35 minutes to Selce. (Read more about car trains on http://www.dbautozug.de/).
By plane
Selce is surrounded by airports within an easy driving distance. To name the most obvious: Krk (approx. 25 minutes - http://www.easyjet.com/ and http://www.ryanair.com/); Lubjana (approx. 1 ½ hour), Trieste (approx. 2 hours), Zagreb (approx. 2 hours), Venice (approx. 3 hours). Thus, there are many opportunities to find a cheap plane ticket all year round (in low season, direct flights are limited to some of the airports named depending on the point of departure).
